Frequently asked questions
What happens if it rains at the time of our scheduled session?
The weather in Washington changes so quickly! I check the weather constantly and the hourly forecast is pretty accurate the day before our shoot. I do ask that we wait until the night before or morning of the session to decide if we are going to change plans. If it is raining, we can do one of three things: Move the session to your home and have a fun Lifestyle session or reschedule or turn the session into a puddle jumping session and go play!
Can our dog join us for the session?
Absolutely! I truly love animals and believe that they are just as much a member of the family as the kiddos are so let's include them! I do have a neutral colored leash that I am happy to bring to the session so that the bright colored leash you may have is not distracting.
How long does it take to receive the photos after the session and how will they be delivered?
I ask for two weeks to edit the gallery and will deliver them via an online gallery where you can download them to your computer one at a time or as a whole with a zip file.
When is the best time for a maternity session?
The best time for your maternity session is when you are between 28-36 weeks gestation. That is when you should showing pretty well, but you aren’t quite uncomfortable with your growing baby bump. Past 36 weeks, we are taking a chance… baby could come at any moment and we may miss our chance! Get on the calendar as soon as you can so we have time for reschedules due to weather. :-)
When is the best time to capture a Posed Newborn session? What about a Lifestyle Newborn session?
Posed newborn sessions are best captured between 4 days old and 14 days old. Lifestyle sessions are best captured between 10 days old and 45 days old.
When should I book my newborn session?
As soon as you can! I take a limited number of newborns per month just in case all the babies arrive at once; I need to be available to photograph them all in a timely manner.
Since we don’t know when the baby will arrive, how do we handle scheduling a newborn session?
In my contract with you, I guarantee to be available to your family for a six week period: two weeks ahead of your due date and four weeks after your due date. Once baby arrives, please send me a message within 48 hours so that I can arrange my schedule and we will then set the date for your newborn session.
How much room do I need in my home for setting up a space for capturing posed newborn photos?
I like to have a 5' x 5' area at the very minimum. The best place is a quiet space away from TVs that may be on or dishes that may be getting washed. We want baby in a deep sleep to get the best poses. If I need to put up lighting due to lack of natural light, a larger space will be needed. I am super creative at making small spaces work though, so don't panic.
How do you accept payments?
I can accept cash, credit card or Venmo payments.
Do you have a studio we could visit if we prefer that?
Yes! I do have a studio in Woodinville and you are welcome to have your session there. If that is your preference, let’s chat about the differences between an in home or outdoor session versus a studio session so we can make sure we select the style that is best for your family.
