Seattle’s Discovery Park

This location is great and captures a variety of scenes: tall grasses, flowers in the summer, and a water view. There are some fall colors here that arrive in late October.

It is a good 5 - 10 minute walk from the parking area to the place to that is best for photos. There is little shade here, so the best time of day to do photos at this park is early morning or an hour before sunset. However, we can do a session midday, but the results will be best on an overcast day. The photos of the couple below are photographed midday in July in full sun; just so you can see how that time of day would effect the photos.

This park does not have a lot of areas of interest for kids, so I do not recommend it for a child that is neurodivergent. They will get bored easily, and if they are Autistic, it might not provide enough shade to stay cool or help with light sensitivity.

Bathroom-wise, this park has Honey Buckets in the parking lot, but none are available at the park itself.

This park is many photographers’ favorite park and is very busy at golden hour on the weekends Summer- Fall.
